Understanding the Basics of Poker

Poker is a game of chance, risk and strategy. Players put in a blind bet and an ante before being dealt cards. Generally speaking, late positions provide the best opportunities to manipulate the pot. Therefore, it is important to avoid calling re-raises with weak or marginal hands from early position. It is also a good idea to avoid playing any hands from the button.
