Visa Services

All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Mission. The Indian visa is issued under Government of India’s Foreigners Act. All Individual visa seekers are requested to apply for the Indian Visa through online application link http://www.indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/. (From July 16, 2012 hand written visa application forms are not accepted by the High Commission of India for issuance of visa.)

Non–Malaysian Foreign Visa applicants are required to submit an additional form along with the online visa application printout.  For the additional form please click here

Visa applicants are required to complete all fields in the online visa application form correctly and accurately. Incorrect/ incomplete applications are liable to be rejected. After completing and submitting successfully the online visa application form, the printout of the form along with prescribed support documents and fees is to be submitted at one of the Indian Visa Application Center (IVAC) approved by the High Commission at following address;

Visa application printout is required to be signed by the applicant himself/ herself.

The validity of Indian visa starts from the date of issue and not from the date of travel to India. Therefore applicants are required to apply for appropriate validity visa.

IVAC Operating hours:
  1. Submission of Visa Applications – 9am to 2pm (Monday to Friday).

  2. Time of Collection – 4:00 pm to 6:00pm

IVACs are closed on Saturday and Sunday and public holidays observed by the High Commission of India.

Visa Application Processing Period:

Malaysian Nationals: Ordinarily 3 working days

Non- Malaysian nationals: At least 5 working days for visa approval by the High Commission and 3 working days for visa stamping.

The High Commission of India does not accept visa applications at its premises, except those requesting for grant of (i) Gratis visas to Non–Malaysian Foreign Visa applicants holding official and diplomatic passports. (Malaysian nationals holding official and diplomatic passports are exempted from requirement of visa.) (ii) Gratis visas for the invitees from the Government of India/State Government bodies and (iii) Issuing of visas on Emergency basis. Those requesting for grant of gratis visas on official and diplomatic passports and on emergency basis are requested to apply for the Indian Visa through online application link. Visa Fees

Malaysian Passport Holders:  
  1. Tourist visa (multiple entry) valid for up to six months : RM161.56
  2. Business Visa: (upto one year): RM 465.56/- (for Malaysians only)
  3. Student Visa: (upto five years): RM 294.56/-
  4. Entry Visa (upto six months): RM 313.56/- (upto one year: RM 465.56/-), above one year to five years – RM 769.56/-
  5. Employment Visa: RM 465.56/- (upto one year) (for Malaysians only).
  6. Conference Visa: RM 313.56/-
  7. Transfer of Visa: RM 28.56/-
  8. Transit Visa: RM 85.56/-

 *Above Visa Fees includes IVAC Service Fee of RM 1.56.

Non- Malaysian Passport Holders:
  1. Tourist visa (multiple entry) valid for up to six months : RM161.56
  2. Tourist visa (multiple entry) for Singapore nationals- valid for up to six months : RM 104.56
  3. Transit visa : RM 85.56
  4. Multiple entry Student visa  (valid for  the duration of course or 5 years, whichever is less) : RM 294.56
  5. All other types of multiple entry visas (other than tourist, transit and student visas) valid for:
    1. up to six months : RM313.56
    2. up to one year : RM 465.56
    3. up to five years:  RM 769.56
      *Above Visa Fees includes IVAC Service Fee of RM 1.56.
  6. In respect of Business visa, there will be different charges for 15 specified countries at the rates indicated in Table-I  and in respect of 16 different countries, Employment Visa charges will be as indicated at Table-II, on reciprocal basis.

  7. Gratis Visa will be issued gratis to the nationals of Afghanistan, Argentina, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Korea, Jamaica, Maldives, Mauritius, South Africa and Uruguay.

  9. Japanese nationals:  Fee of RM 13.56 for transit visa and RM 39.56 for all other types of visa will be charged.

  10. Russian and Romanian nationals:  Service charges of RM 161.56 and RM 34.56 will be charged from Russian and Romanian nationals respectively for all types of Indian visa.

  11. US nationals: Visa fee for five year and 10 year validity Business visa will be RM 845.56 in addition to Visa application fee of RM 76 which is applicable to all types of visas.

  13. Transfer of Visa: When an Indian visa afixed on an old passport is required to be transferred to a new one, a service fee of RM 28.56 will be charged. Tourist visas are not transferred to new passport. Visa transfer fee is not applicable to nationals of Afghanistan, Argentina, Bangladesh, DPR Korea, Jamaica, Maldives, Mauritius, South Africa, Uruguay, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan.
Note:
  1. Above mentioned visa fees include IVAC service provider fee of RM. 1.56 and additional levy of RM 8.

  2. A telex/fax charges of RM 48 over and above the visa fee given above would be charged from a non- resident (foreign)/ non-Malaysian visa applicant for obtaining clearance from the Indian Mission in the native country of the applicant.

Eligibility Conditions and Supporting Documents for Different Visa Categories:

All visa applications should be accompanied by copy of personal particular page of the passport. Non-Malaysian applicants are required to submit copy of their last two years of Malaysian employment pass or visit pass or dependent pass while applying for visas.

Tourist Visa: Tourist Visa is granted to a Foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sight-seeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives. No other activity is permissible on a Tourist Visa. The High Mission would be issuing six months validity multiple entry Tourist visa for eligible visa applicants including Malaysian nationals. The Tourist visa will be issued with the conditions that “each stay should not exceed 30 days”.The Tourist Visa is non-extendable and non-convertible. Applicant should submit 2 colour photographs (Size 2” X 2”) with white background, application form duly filled and original passport.

Business Visa: The Business Visa is granted to a foreign national who wants to visit India to establish an industrial/business venture or to explore possibilities to set up industrial/business venture, wants to purchase/sell industrial products in India.  The applicant should be a person of assured financial standing and has the expertise in the field of the intended business.  It is not granted for petty trading.  For more information on Business visa click on the link http://mha.nic.in/pdfs/work_visa_faq.pdf

The Business Visa must be issued from the country of origin, or from the country of domicile of the foreigner, provided the period of permanent residence of that applicant in that particular country is for more than two years. Documents required for Business Visa: Local company letter and company registration, Invitation letter from India and the company registration along with forms, two colour photos in white background ( Size 2” X 2”), original Passport.

Student Visa: Original Passport, with duly filled-in visa application form as per the student visa guidelines. Two colour photos in white background ( Size 2” X 2”). 

Entry Visa: Entry Visa is granted to person’s spouses and dependent family members of a foreign national coming to India on long term visas like Employment and Research etc.  It is also granted to Persons of Indian Origin, his/her spouse and dependent children subject to production of proof of the PIO status, marriage certificate (in respect of spouse) and birth certificate (in respect of children). Spouses of an OCI/PIO card holders and dependent children can also apply for Entry Visa subject to production of necessary proof.

Supporting documents: For those married to Indian nationals, Original Indian Passport of Spouse along with a photocopy, marriage certificate and photocopy. For children of either parent being an Indian passport holder, children’s birth certificate, one of the parents’ Indian passport original and photocopy.Two colour photos in white background ( Size 2” X 2”). 

Employment Visa: The Employment visa is granted to foreigners desiring to come to India for the purpose of employment.  The applicant should be a skilled and qualified professional or person who is being engaged or appointed by a company, organization, industry or undertaking, etc. in India on contract or employment basis at a senior level, skilled position such as technical expert, senior executive, or in a managerial position. The Employment Visa must be issued from the country of origin, or from the country of domicile of the foreigner, provided the period of permanent residence of that applicant in that particular country is for more than two years. Employment contract for the company in which they will be working, Indian company registration, academic certificate, application forms. Two colour photos in white background ( Size 2” X 2”). 

Transfer of Visa: The old Passport and the current passport. 

Transit Visa: To produce confirmed air ticket for onward journey along with form and two colour photos in white background (Size 2” X 2”). 

Conference Visa: Letter of invitation from the organizer of the conference, nomination letter from Malaysian organisation along with form and two colour photos in white background (Size 2” X 2”). 

Note:

  1. Visa fee and service fee are non-refundable. 

  2. The High Mission would be issuing six months validity multiple entry Tourist visa for eligible visa applicants including Malaysian nationals. The Tourist visa will be issued with the conditions that “each stay should not exceed 30 days”.

  3. Non-Malaysian Foreigners have to produce copy of Passport, including the Malaysian visa page proving two years continuous residency in Malaysia along with the application.

  4. The validity of Indian visa starts from the date of issue and not from the date of travel to India.

  5. Applicants should apply for appropriate category of visa. Tourist visa holders found to be travelling for other purposes such as business, study or medical treatment are liable to be cancelled.

  6. For Student Visa and Employment Visa, applicant is to approach the High Commission for interview/approval between 9:30am to 12 noon. 

  7. Any person seeking a visa to India for the purpose of entering into a surrogacy arrangement must ascertain beforehand whether the law of that country permits surrogacy and will provide appropriate travel documents to the child for accompanying the surrogate parents. Entering into surrogacy arrangement under any other visa not sought for surrogacy is punishable under the Indian law.
